Create your first person
In Fiscalapi, a person represents any tax entity registered in your tenant (the space in Fiscalapi that holds your issuers, recipients, credits, and data): an individual (persona física) or a legal entity (persona moral), such as a company. For each person, you manage other resources of your tenant. You assign and withdraw stamps (one credit each, used each time you stamp a CFDI), manage its tax files (the CSD and e.firma .cer and .key files you upload for a person), such as its CSD (Certificado de Sello Digital, the digital seal certificate used to sign CFDIs), create and revoke API keys, and control whether it can issue invoices.
This tutorial uses the dashboard, but you can also create all these resources with the API. See issuers and recipients.
Person types
A person can be an issuer, a company that issues CFDIs (Mexico's electronic invoices); a recipient, a customer who receives them; an employer that hires employees; or an employee who works for a company. It can also be an organization with its own customers, a holding company with several affiliates or subsidiaries, a user who consumes the API within an organization, or an individual.
A person as the issuer on payroll CFDIs
When a person acts as the employer on payroll CFDIs (the CFDI issued for each salary payment, type N), it must have its employer data registered. If the issuing person is an individual, also enter their CURP (Mexico's population registry ID, Clave Única de Registro de Población) as part of their tax data.
A person as the recipient on payroll CFDIs
When a person acts as the employee on payroll CFDIs, it must have its employee data registered. Because the employee is always an individual, also enter their CURP as part of their tax data.
Creating people
In the dashboard, go to Catalogos > Personas (Catalogs > People) and click + above the people table. Once you create the person, you can upload its tax files, create API keys, and assign or withdraw stamps with the + and - buttons on the selected row.

Fill in the form with the person's tax data. To invoice in the test environment, use the test people or the tax data of your company or your customer.

Fill in the person form and click Save to save your changes.

Tax data required for invoicing
To invoice, the person needs a legal name (as registered with the SAT), RFC (Mexico's taxpayer ID, Registro Federal de Contribuyentes), email, tax regime (régimen fiscal, the SAT category a taxpayer is registered under, such as 601 or 626), CFDI use (how the recipient will use the CFDI for tax purposes), and postal code. The Contraseña Sellos (Seal password) field (taxPassword) is optional, because Fiscalapi doesn't use it to seal invoices: when stamping, it uses the private key password you enter when you upload the tax files (next section). For the test people, that password is 12345678a.
Upload tax files
In the dashboard, go to Catalogos > Personas (Catalogs > People), select the person whose tax files you want to upload, and click + above its tax files table.

Upload the CSD certificate
Fill in the form with the certificate details and choose the right type: Certificado CSD (CSD certificate) for the .cer file or Clave privada CSD (CSD private key) for the .key file. For both files, enter the private key password (12345678a for the test people).

Upload the selected person's certificate.

Upload the CSD private key
Repeat the process with the .key file and click Save to save your changes.

Upload the selected person's private key.
