Report rules
A report rule (the logo, colors, and templates applied to an issuer's invoice PDFs) holds those settings for one issuer, identified by its RFC (Mexico's taxpayer ID, Registro Federal de Contribuyentes). The rule applies every time Fiscalapi renders that issuer's invoices: the PDF you get from the API or in the dashboard, the PDF attached when you email an invoice, and the online reports in the dashboard.
Report rules by RFC
Each RFC has its own rule, with its logo, colors, and templates, and every invoice stamped (stamping: the certification by a SAT-authorized provider that makes a CFDI valid) with that RFC reflects that brand identity. This works whether you issue invoices for your own business or on behalf of several clients or entities: you configure the reports of each RFC separately, both yours and your clients'.
How do report rules work?
A report rule links an RFC to these settings:
| Field | What it defines |
|---|---|
| RFC | The issuer the rule applies to. |
| Color de fuente (Font color) | The color of the text on the printed or PDF invoice, in HEX format; for example, #FFFFFF. |
| Color de bandas en los reportes (Report band color) | The color of the headers or bands of each report section, in HEX format; for example, #9b50d4. |
| Reporte de ingresos (Income report) | The template for income invoices (type I, the regular sales invoice). |
| Reporte de notas de crédito (Credit note report) | The template for credit notes (an Egreso CFDI, type E). |
| Reporte de complementos de pago (Payment complement report) | The template for payment complements (the complement that records each payment received against a PPD invoice; the type P CFDI that carries it is also called REP). |
| Reporte de nómina (Payroll report) | The template for payroll complements, also called electronic payroll. |
| Reporte de transporte (Transportation report) | The template for transportation invoices. |
| Logo | The image that appears in the top corner of the reports. |
In each report field, you choose the official template or a copy you created. Once you create the rule, every invoice stamped with that RFC uses its settings, both in the API and in the dashboard.
For changes beyond the colors and the logo, such as adding or removing fields, moving sections, or changing formats, create a copy of the official template: see Customize PDF reports. A copy is yours and your responsibility, and it doesn't receive updates or support from Fiscalapi.
Create a report rule
Sign in to the dashboard, go to Configuración > Reportes (Settings > Reports), and click + above the Reglas de reportes (Report rules) table. Fill in the rule fields, described in the table above, and click Guardar (Save). The rule appears in the table and, from then on, any invoice stamped with that RFC reflects the settings you defined.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Where do these rules apply?
In every visual rendering of the RFC's invoices, with any mode of operation: the PDF you request from the API, the PDF attached when you email an invoice from the API or the dashboard, and the invoices you download or view in the dashboard.
Can I create more than one rule per RFC?
You don't need to: a single rule per RFC keeps a unified design. If you have a special use case, contact the support team for advice.
What happens if an RFC has no report rule?
The Fiscalapi default rule applies, and every tenant (the space in Fiscalapi that holds your issuers, recipients, credits, and data) without its own rule shares it. You can't edit or delete that rule: to change the design of an RFC, create your own rule.
Can I update or delete a report rule?
Yes. Edit or delete your rules at any time from Configuración > Reportes (Settings > Reports). If a rule is assigned to the tenant owner (the person who created the tenant), only the owner can create, edit, or delete it. If the rule you try to delete no longer exists, the API returns 404.
When you try to modify the default rule, or an owner's rule without being the owner, the dashboard rejects the operation and the API returns:
| Status | When it happens | Message |
|---|---|---|
| 403 | You try to edit or delete the Fiscalapi default rule. | Operation denied. |
| 403 | A person (any individual or legal entity registered in your tenant) other than the owner tries to create, edit, or delete a rule assigned to the owner. | Solo el propietario de la cuenta puede modificar al propietario de la cuenta. |
Can I configure these fields from the API?
No. You configure report rules in the Fiscalapi dashboard.
